ATS CV checker with a score you can actually understand

Applicant tracking systems (ATS) turn your CV into fields such as name, job titles, dates and skills before a recruiter searches them. Import your CV and Sira CV runs a rule-based readiness check that shows exactly which rules pass, which fail and why.

How the score is calculated

The check uses fixed rules, not AI. Formatting and content rules are worth up to 80 points: contact details, a target job title, a summary of sensible length, complete job entries, consistent month–year dates, short bullet points, education, enough skills, photo use for the target country and a single-column layout with standard headings.

Paste a job advertisement and keyword coverage adds up to 20 more points, based on how many of the ad's key terms appear in your CV. Without an ad, the formatting rules are scaled to 100.

The score is an estimate built from publicly available guidance. It is not any employer's system and it cannot guarantee that a CV passes an ATS.

What CV parsers commonly struggle with

  • Tables and text boxes: cells can be read out of order or skipped, mixing dates with the wrong job.
  • Text inside images, icons or charts: a skill bar or a logo with your name in it is invisible to a parser.
  • Contact details in the page header or footer: some systems ignore those areas entirely.
  • Creative section headings such as "My journey" instead of "Work Experience": the parser may not know where the section starts.
  • Inconsistent dates ("2021 – now", "03/22", "Spring 2020"): use one format, such as "Mar 2022 – Present", everywhere.
  • Several columns: reading order can jump between the sidebar and the main column.

Fixing the most common failures

  • Put your name, email and phone in the body of the page, not in a header.
  • Write the target job title under your name, matching the advertisement where it is accurate.
  • Use standard headings: Professional Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills.
  • Give every job a title, employer and start date, with at least two short bullet points.
  • Export a PDF with real, selectable text. If you can't highlight a word in your PDF, a parser probably can't read it either.

Keywords: match the ad honestly

The keyword part looks for the important terms of the ad in your CV. Add a missing keyword only if it is true for you, and use the ad's own wording ("stakeholder management", not just "working with people"). Keyword stuffing makes a CV harder for the human reader who decides next.

Frequently asked questions

Does a high score mean my CV will pass the ATS?

No tool can promise that. Employers use different systems and settings. The score shows how well your CV follows widely published ATS guidance, and which concrete issues to fix.

Which files can I import?

PDF, Word or TXT files up to 10 MB, or the PDF export of your LinkedIn profile. You see a preview of the imported content before you apply it.

Is the check done by AI?

No. The readiness check is rule-based, so the same CV always gets the same score and every point is explained. AI is only used for optional tailoring and writing features.

Do I need a job advertisement?

No, but it helps. Without an ad you get the formatting score out of 100; with an ad, formatting counts for up to 80 points and keyword coverage for up to 20.
